Overview of CD
Perhaps there is no portion of scripture that more poignantly communicates sorrow and distress than Jeremiah and Lamentations. This portion of scripture is rich with poetry and intense emotion, but few people take the time to realize that there was a hopeful silver lining to Jeremiah's message. Intrigued by this, I sat down and wrote a poetic summary of the book of Jeremiah and then pulled out my guitar and set the poem to music. "Sorrow to Hope" was the result, and our church appreciated it.
Each of these songs is based upon a sermon preached at Berean Baptist Church in Fremont, California. While originally written to go with specific sermons, the whole collection of songs has also been performed as an entire sermon in song in several churches. The CD includes a 16 page booklet that contains the full lyrics as well as the teaching behind each song. It is truly a unique blend of music and sound doctrine, so open up your Bible and follow along.
Sorrow to Hope is dedicated to the memory of my grandfather, 'Bub' Milby. He was probably the biggest fan of my singing, and over the years, he was always asking me to record some music. When I sang a few of these songs for him, he encouraged me to record and publish them, and eventually, he made it possible for this to be done. It was his encouragement that led to the production of this CD. Though his health was failing fast, he lived to see and hear the completed project just two days before he passed away. Grandpa has now received his hope, and I know that his vision was to see that these songs would draw you into a closer fellowship and trust for God. He wanted you to know and appreciate this same hope.
Prophets declare the message. Hope springs from sorrow. A change of heart echoes in the lives of those who know God.
